#MeToo… A hash-tag that became the #1 trending topic on Twitter on Sunday night. It’s vagueness became something powerful as sexual assault survivors from all over the world shared their stories of abuse and harassment. Actress and activist Alyssa Milano was the author of the tweet that turned Twitter into a communal outlet for sexual assault and harassment stories.

We at Still Standing could not be prouder of the survivors who have mustered up all their bravery to be open to the world. Your words are powerful. Your fearlessness is speaking to the survivors too afraid to speak for themselves. You are telling them they are not alone. You are obliterating the words of those who brush off sexual assault and harassment.

You are living proof that you can overcome what has happened. #MeToo might seem like something so simple, but even when you tweet just the hash-tag, those little words are sharing something powerful. You don’t have to attach a story to it. Those two words are a step to take back what was was taken from you.

We gathered some tweets, but we highly encourage you to browse the tag on your own as well. It’s an eye-opening experience to read it all.
